Harare, - Zimbabwe Tourism Authority boss Karikoga Kaseke, is battling for life at West End Clinic in Harare after his BMW was involved in an accident near Banket.
The accident occurred on Wednesday as he travelled to Chinhoyi to attend World Tourism Day in Chinhoyi.
He lost control of the vehicle resulting in it hitting a tree on the road side and it overturned several times.
Kaseke was rushed to a hospital in Banket. Later he was taken by an ambulance unconscious to WestEnd Clinic in Harare.
The ZTA chief executive was said to be driving the vehicle in which he carried three beauty queens from the Miss Tourism project. Their identities could not be immediately known.
But sources on Wednesday told Radio VOP that one of the beauty queens was seriously injured and was also rushed to Banket with Kaseke and later transferred to Harare.
The sources said the others were in a stable condition.
Kaseke was involved in the crash a day after he told Harare mayor, Muchadeyi Masunda ‘to go and hang”.
He said he would not apologise to Masunda for ejecting an MDC-T councillor from the recent launch of the United Nations World Tourism Day commemorations.
The councillor attended as the mayor's representative, but was deemed too junior by Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi and Kaseke.
Masunda said he would not attend any ZTA or Tourism Ministry function until he received an apology.
Addressing journalists in Harare on Tuesday Kaseke said: "The truth is that Mr Masunda can go and hang, we will not apologise. The mayor is misdirecting himself in the same manner he misdirected himself on that particular day. We have nothing to apologise for and we will not apologise. Minister Mzembi has nothing to apologise for, neither do I have anything to apologise for. He can go hang. That councillor was too junior and we ordered him to go back and bring the mayor or someone senior. - Radio VOP
