The Grade 7 learner, Jaco Labuschagne, won a brand-new Toyota Hilux double-cab bakkie after winning the Shoprite Checkers boerewors competition, reported Beeld newspaper.

"Dad can get the bakkie, as long he takes me fishing in it," Labuschagne said, according to his mother, Dorothy Labuschagne.

She said she and her husband had been taking part in the competition for 10 years, but never managed to get very far.

"And here Jaco enters this year for the first time, and he wins!"

The teenager, who wants to become a professional cricket player one day, said his recipe was a secret.

The "secret" boerewors will soon be on sale at Shoprite Checkers shops.
