WINTERBOURNE UNITED have made a sensational swoop for Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar.

The Zimbabwe international goalkeeper, 52, is being lined up to play in a one-off match against Patchway in the GFA Trophy on Saturday, December 5.

Nick Tanner, who has recently been appointed the new manager of the Hellenic Premier League club, played with Grobbelaar in the late 1990s.

Winterbourne have applied for his registration and it is hoped Grobbelaar will find time to play in the cup match three days before he is due to move to Canada to help the club raise money for their ground.
