MDC-T will be in power soon – Chikwinya
By The Zimbabwean Tue, May 24, 2011
KWEKWE – Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya has described the current discord in Zanu (PF) as a signal that MDC-T is a step closer to ruling Zimbabwe.
Addressing supporters and Mbizo residents at a rally at Musimbe shopping center on Sunday, Chikwinya said: “Events where Patrick Chinamasa, Zanu (PF)’s chief negotiator agreed on behalf of his party to have elections after the implementation of a Sadc sponsored roadmap only to be heavily castigated by his superiors clearly shows that there is discord in Zanu (PF).
“We have never been so near to power than we are today. When Zanu (PF) signed the Global Political Agreement (GPA) in September 2008, they automatically signed themselves out of power.”
He said Zanu (PF) had delayed the full implementation of the GPA so that they could force the nation to go for elections this year. We are going for elections only on condition that the three parties fully implement the GPA provisions. Hence the talk by Zanu (PF) of having elections this year is nonsensical and misguided.”
He also urged the party not to be divided by results of the recently held 3rd Congress in Bulawayo. “Our congress was a clear indication of democracy in Africa and I would like to urge party supporters not to be divided by the congress. We have no doubt that we chose a winning team that will steer the party to a new Zimbabwe,’ added Chikwinya.
