HARARE - Churches of Zimbabwe will be holding a National Day of Prayer today as the nation commemorates Africa Day. "We call upon all churches and Christians of all denominations to gather together to pray y in their cities, towns and villages to seek the face of the Lord for the healing of the nation," said a statement.

Zimbabwe is currently faced with a political stalemate among the three principals in the GNU over the full implementation of the Global Political Agreement (GPA).  Many ordinary Zimbabweans have criticised the Inclusive Government over delays in the national healing process, with victims of political violence in 2008 yet to get justice.
"The current political situation in our nation is of great concern to us. Let us continue to pray for the Government of National Unity. As you know the destiny of this nation is in the hands of the Christians, we have the responsibility to bring the state of the nation before God," said the churches.
