Mliswa in more trouble again
By Special correspondent Tue, Apr 05, 2011
CONTROVERSIAL Zanu PF supporter and businessman Temba Mliswa has been arrested by police on fresh charges of extortion.
Police swooped on Mliswa as he left court on Monday for a remand hearing which failed to take place due to a strike by magistrates.
Mliswa’s lawyer Charles Chinyama said he was still trying to ascertain the charges against the former Zimbabwe national soccer team fitness trainer.
His sister, however, told journalists he had been arrested by detectives from CID Homicide on charges of extortion.
It was not immediately clear why detectives from Homicide would make an arrest in an extortion or fraud case.
Police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena confirmed Mliswa had been arrested but declined to reveal the charge and his location.
Mliswa’s lawyers claimed last year that he was facing up to 78 charges in Zimbabwe’s court system.
His legal woes multiplied after he accused Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri of being corrupt.
The charges he faces range from bribery, attempted murder, extortion, assault to multiple counts of fraud
