In this paper, James Kilgore, a US scholar who lived and worked in Southern Africa for about 20 years reviews his book ‘We are all Zimbabweans Now’ which he wrote while in prison between 2002 and 2009. The paper explores some of the myths about the Zimbabwean story and challenges the consevative Western media’s approaches to reporting events in the country. It was presented on February 3 to the University of Illinois Centre of African Studies where Kilgore is a research scholar.
