MUTARE - The Roman International Relief Agency (RIRA), a non-Governmental Organisation with its head quarters in Rome, Italy has planned to electrify 10 remote rural schools and 10 clinics in Manicaland province with solar energy at the beginning of next month, an official has said.
RIRA business development manager, Casper Neshuro, told The Zimbabwean that two schools in Bocha and one clinic in Buhera had so far been electrified. He said mini grid solar systems that convert solar energy to an alternating current, which can be used in homes and other institutions, were currently being installed.
“The solar programme has been designed for those institutions that are far away from the grid,” he said. “ He added that RIRA was encouraging rural schools with electricity to venture into income generating projects such as agro processing
