Swazi SADC security summit
The political and security situation in the region will be discussed at a Southern African Development Community (SADC) meeting, to be attended by International Relations and Co-operation Deputy Minister Sue van Der Merwe in Swaziland today.

Her department said she would be attending the SADC 30th session of the Inter State Politics Diplomacy Committee set to conclude today.
"The SADC region is among the regions in the world that are relatively stable and peaceful.
"This session of the ISPDC will therefore feed into the various SADC efforts that seek to entrench the consolidation of democracy within the region," the department said.
The agenda for the meeting includes a progress report on the Hashim Mbita project, the political and security situation in the region, the consolidation of democracy through the creation of the SADC Electoral Advisory Council, elections and disaster management in the region.
The objectives of the ISPDC was safeguarding development in the region, promoting political co-operation, preventing conflict, developing democratic institutions and developing the peacekeeping capacity of national defence forces in the region.
