Zimbabwe double their lead
YOU JUST CAN'T STOP HIM: Zimbabwe's left arm-seamer Brian Vitori (L) celebrates after removing Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club yesterday. Vitori's second-successive five-wicket haul helped the hosts to win the match by seven wicket
Brian Vitori claimed a second successive five-wicket haul to help Zimbabwe record a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in Harare.
The second match of the series proved to be a near carbon copy of Friday's opener, with the tourists only mustering 188 after being put into bat.
Vitori followed up the 5-30 he managed on his ODI debut with figures of 5-20 on Sunday, meaning the left-arm seamer has already equalled the Zimbabwean record for five-wicket hauls in 50-over cricket.
Vusi Sibanda, who made 96 in his side's run chase last in game one, top-scored with 67 as the hosts eased to victory with 35 balls to spare.
Disastrous start
The Tigers simply never recovered from a disastrous start to their innings, Vitori and Elton Chigumbura
(2-35) reducing them to 58-6.
Nasir Hossain did his best to try and turn around such a hopeless situation, hitting six boundaries to make 63 from number eight in the order.
He put on 53 with skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who made 26 before departing lbw to Vitori to leave the score at 111-7, and then added 65 withAbdur Razzak
(35) for the eighth wicket.
Nasir eventually departed when he was caught by Hamilton Masakadza
off the bowling of Vitori, who went on to complete his five-wicket haul by bowling Razzak. The innings came to an end when Rubel Hossain was run out without troubling the scorers with 15 balls still remaining.
Zimbabwe's reply didn't get off to the greatest of starts when they lost captain Brendan Taylor
in the third over of their reply.
However, Sibanda added 83 with Masakadza (38) for the second wicket and then a further 59 with Tatenda Taibu,
who finished up unbeaten on 61.
Taibu's half-century came up courtesy of a seven as he ran three and was gifted four overthrows, and he saw his side to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series by pulling awayMohammad Ashraful
for four
