Dead Slough woman was pregnant, inquest hears
SLOUGH, LONDON, United Kingdom - A young Zimbabwean woman found dead on a railway track was pregnant, an inquest has heard.
During an inquest on Thursday at Windsor's Guildhall, Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford declared an open verdict on 25-year-old Aliyah Yvette Muskwati, who lived with her boyfriend Nathaniel Dunn in Slough.
Mr Dunn told the inquest that Aliyah was ‘very happy’ at the prospect of becoming a mother for the second time and said she had shown no suicidal tendencies.
The coroner heard that she had a long history of mental illness, substance abuse, self harm and hallucinations and had lost custody of her seven-year-old son to her former partner, who had taken the child to Scandinavia.
Mr Dunn said she feared she may lose her new baby to social services. Mr Bedford said there was no evidence that this was the case.
Miss Muskwati, originally from Zimbabwe, lived in Scotland prior to moving to the area last year. Her father said he had not seen her for two years.
She was found dead in the dark, just yards from the platform at Sunnymeads station near Wraysbury, on February 15 this year. She was found by a driver who thought he had driven over a ‘bundle of rags.’
