A bus conductor, who drove a loaded commuter omnibus before running over and killing a woman on the spot, has been jailed for two years.

The 24-year-old Whisky Frank is not a holder of a valid Zimbabwe Driver's Licence was speeding when he hit the woman. The reckless unlicenced driver was found guilty of driving without a licence and culpable homicide when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Rebecca Kavhiya. On his first count, he was slapped with an effective 18-month jail term. For culpable homicide he was slapped with six months effective imprisonment.

All in all, Whisky will languish in prison for the next two years. It was established that on January 16, Whisky, who resides at No. 12313 Domboramwari Epworth, was driving a Ford Transit Commuter omnibus (ABZ 3453) along Chiremba Road due east. The State proved that Whisky was speeding when he failed to keep a proper lookout for the late Susan Siwela. Susan was crossing Chiremba Road from South when she was hit by Whisky and she died on the spot. It was further proved that Whisky was arrested on the scene of the accident after failing to produce proper documents.
