A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman by throwing her from a third-floor window.

John Makonyola appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday. The 31-year-old is accused of killing Cynthia Bote on August 5, 2011, at a flat in Linkwood Crescent, Drumchapel.

Makonyola is accused of struggling with 23-year-old Miss Bote and then repeatedly striking her on the head.

He is charged with, by means to the prosecutor unknown, causing her to fall and strike her head on the ground.

Makonyola also faces an accusation of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He is also accused of telling police that Miss Bote had fallen from the veranda in an attempt to kill herself.

Judge Lord Woolman adjourned the case until a further hearing in February.
