Malawian brother meet in Zimbabwe
MALAWIAN President Bingu wa Mutharika yesterday jetted into Zimbabwe to pick his “elder bother’s brains” on a number of issues.
Preisdent wa Mutharika is in trouble for running Malawi’s economy into the ground. Major donors have withdrawn support, fuel and electricity shortages are widespread, there are no jobs while the country’s infrastructure has collapsed.
President wa Mutharika looks up to President Mugabe who has ruined Zimbabwe’s economy but is still firmly in power. He should leave office in 2014 but many Malawians see him trying to stay in power.
He arrived at around 11am and later held talks with President Mugabe at State House.
Speaking after the three-hour meeting, the Malawian leader said he was visiting Zimbabwe to exchange ideas with his counterpart.
"President Mugabe is my elder brother and it is well that I visit to share ideas with my elder brother on various issues," he said.
