STATE radio says a militant youth group loyal to the president is calling for a boycott of a restaurant chain whose latest advertising depicts Zimbabwe's leader as "the last dictator standing".
STATE radio says a militant youth group loyal to the president is calling for a boycott of a restaurant chain whose latest advertising depicts Zimbabwe's leader as "the last dictator standing".
The radio today quoted Jimu Kunaka, head of group known as Chipangano, demanding the Nando's food chain of South Africa withdraw the advertising and apologise or face punitive action. Chipangano is a brotherhood of President Robert Mugabe's loyalists.
The head of the food chain's Zimbabwe franchise says it was not informed of the South African television and press campaign, and is independent of them.
In the commercial, Mugabe is shown dining alone on the food chain's spicy chicken at Christmas with vacant places at his table for Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and other deposed dictators.
