CHIPINGE, Zimbabwe, – In a move to reverse the high maternal and child mortality rates in Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom has strengthened its partnership with UNICEF Zimbabwe and the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare by announcing a ₤50 million (US$78.4 million) injection into the Health Transition Fund, a fund geared towards strengthening health systems to ultimately save the lives of more than 30,000 children under age 5 and pregnant women.
