Malema got tenders illegally: Moloto

By Staff reporter and agencies   Wed, Feb 24, 2010

Former Limpopo premier Sello Moloto says ANC Youth League president Julius Malema received government tenders in the province illegally, reports The Sowetan newspaper.

Moloto alleged that Malema got the tenders by intimidating mayors and municipal managers.

“He (Malema) got those tenders by intimidating mayors and municipal managers that they would lose their jobs if they did not approve the appointments of his companies,” he said.

Moloto and Malema are bitter political rivals. On Wednesday, Malema told a radio station that Moloto "hated" him and that the former premier had "always held a view that I’m involved in some illegal activities".

"If there was corruption that happened, it happened under Sello's nose," said Malema yesterday.

However, Moloto, now a Cope Limpopo MPL, told the Sowetan he could not have given any tenders to Malema under dubious circumstances.

“It is obvious that Malema had been getting the tenders illegally."
