Charamba offers powerful prayer for Zimbabwe on Pashoko Pangoma
IF I was asked to give a title to Pastor Charles Charamba’s latest album, I would call it “Intercession”. This is not to take anything away from the title Pashoko Pangoma, which aptly sums up the album’s emphatic beat and inspiring lyrics.
IF I was asked to give a title to Pastor Charles Charamba’s latest album, I would call it “Intercession”. This is not to take anything away from the title Pashoko Pangoma, which aptly sums up the album’s emphatic beat and inspiring lyrics.
But I was just touched by a song titled Nyika Zimbabwe which is an intercession prayer for the country.
At this time of general anxiety and uncertainty in the country Pastor Charamba says a strong prayer to the Almighty asking for his intervention in virtually all sectors is the answer.
The song would automatically send any believer to their knees because the musician humbly asks God to take care of Zimbabwe in everything that happens in the country.
He begins by thanking the heavens for making Zimbabwe such a beautiful country and then goes on to present our wishes and hopes praying that they may be granted.
It might be difficult to say everything that the pastor prays for in the song but I can simply sum the message as follows:
“Thank you Lord for our beautiful land of Zimbabwe. You gave us amazing gifts as a country. We have exciting natural sites, wildlife and precious minerals. . . We pray for our currency to regain its strength. Remember Zimbabwe oh, Lord.”
It is indeed a strong prayer and Pastor Charamba concludes the song with a recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. To make it more appealing, the musician uses three languages on the song — Shona, isiNdebele and English (most of the songs on the album mix these languages).
But Nyika Zimbabwe is not the only touching song on the eight-track album.
Other songs to check are Regera Kundisiya, Ndakaurayisa Jesu and Jehovah Ndiye that are both inspiring and danceable. Other songs on the album are Murisimba Redu, Nhangemutange, Moriya Reminana and Mviro Mviro Part 3. To say the least, all the songs are just good and I rate this as one of Pastor Charamba’s best albums.
