‘Zanu PF will grab wives, children’
BULAWAYO - Co-Home Affairs Minister, Theresa Makone said Zanu PF now has professional invaders who can even raid private homes of innocent and grab their wives and children.
Responding to questions from journalists in Bulawayo on Monday on what her ministry is doing to stop invasions of foreign-owned buildings in the city, Makone said Zanu PF now has people who are full time in invading buildings, farms and even people’s homes.
“Zanu PF has professional invaders now, who are ready to invade anything, we had few farms left in Zimbabwe which were supporting our agriculture but there are being invaded.
“They have also turned to buildings and companies, what is only left for them is to invade homes of innocent Zimbabweans and grab their wives and children,” said Makone.
Makone also said whenever there is a talk about elections in Zimbabwe, Zanu PF embarks on invasions of companies, buildings and farms in order to instil fear among the country’s citizens.
“Whenever there is talk about elections in the country, Zanu PF embarks on invasion programmes. They want people to get scared, they will never change these people. Elections in Zimbabwe are now about violence because of Zanu PF,” she said.
She added that it is high time Zimbabweans resist Zanu PF terror campaigns.
Since June last year, Zanu PF youths in Bulawayo have seized several buildings located in the central business district owned by Indian and Italian families.
Buildings that have been invaded so far include Zambesia and Canberra Flats located between Leopold Takawira and Sixth Avenue and owned by Laloo family, of Indian origin.
The militant youths have also grabbed the Capri which houses the Pizzaghetti owned by Di Palma family who are of Italian origin.
The takeover of the foreign owned buildings in Bulawayo has already caused divisions between the party’s provincial executive and the youths.
Isaac Dakamela, the Zanu PF chairman for Bulawayo Province, has on numerous occasions voiced his concern at the takeover of city buildings by the party youths who have also hit back and threatened to topple him on charges of being a stumbling block to the black empowerment programme.
The Zanu PF youths last month also took over Eloins Court owned by Indian businessman Khalil Gaibie.
