A JEALOUS Zimbabwean man accused of killing a Nigerian national who was his wife’s boyfriend in Britain said he was defending himself from a knife attack, a court heard.

Giving evidence at his murder trial yesterday Eddington Chigora, 44, said he turned the knife on Omobolaji Adigun (Nigerian) after the 41-year-old had tried to kill him.

Mr Adigun, of Farnham Road, Slough, died from his stab wounds after being taken by taxi to Slough Police Station on April 19.

He was having a relationship with Dorothy Haparimwi, the defendant's wife.

During a heated argument with the victim Chigora, of Buttermere Avenue, Slough, claimed at Reading Crown Court: "All of a sudden he flashed a knife."

The defendant told the court he bent his love rival's wrist back and twisted the knife round towards him before they collapsed to the floor.

The trial continues.
