TWO Zimbabwean men died at Harare’s Parirenyatwa Hospital after taking an overdose of cocaine at their Glen Lorne home.
Andrew Malcom Ross and Norman Scott, both 35, died after being admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Ross’ wife was still admitted at the Avenues Clinic after she also took the narcotic.
She was reportedly in critical condition.
Police yesterday said Ross and Malcom’s bodies were at Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
"On August 2, an informant went to Highlands Police Station and reported the death of his brother-in-law (Ross) and his friend (Scott) at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
"He also reported that his sister was admitted at the Avenues Clinic," an officer said.
Investigations indicate that just after midnight last Saturday at the Ross’ Glen Lorne home, the trio took cocaine in the dining room.
"In the process, Ross fell from his chair and lay unconscious.
"Scott put him in a comfortable position and waited for him to recover," police said.
However, Scott too fell unconscious and Ross’ wife called her brother, who was in the cottage, to help.
By the time the brother arrived, Ross’ wife had slumped in a chair. She managed to tell him that they had sniffed cocaine.
He went through Ross’ jacket and found a plastic sachet with a white substance he suspected to be cocaine.
Ambulances were called and the three were taken to Michael Gelfand Clinic.
The two men were later transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital while the woman was taken to the Avenues Clinic.
"They were attended to by a doctor who confirmed that the white substance was cocaine. It was handed over to the police," an officer said.
Ross died at around 5:20am while Scott died the following day at around 2am.
