A Zimbabwean minister who was in the country this week was assaulted during an armed robbery in Bryanston, SA police said on Saturday.
A Zimbabwean minister who was in the country this week was assaulted during an armed robbery in Bryanston, SA police said on Saturday.
Crime Intelligence and Interpol spokeswoman Tumi Golding said the robbery occurred on Friday evening at the minister's friend's home in Bryanston.
"They were having supper when a number of armed men stormed into the house, tied them up and assaulted them."
She said the robbers then made of with a number of items, police were called and the minister and his friend were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Golding could not give the name of the minister as police were waiting for the go ahead from the Zimbabwean consulate.
She could also not say why the minister was visiting the country.
