Deputy minister released on bail

Harare — Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Deputy Minister Thamsanqa Mahlangu, his personal assistant and two other persons were on Monday granted bail by a Harare magistrate after the State decided not to appeal against the court's earlier decision.
The four are accused of stealing a cellphone belonging to Cde Joseph Chinotimba. They were granted US$50 bail each and ordered not to interfere with State witnesses as well as reside at their given addresses.
The State, led by Mr Public Mpofu, had last week invoked Section 121 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act allowing it at least seven days to file an appeal against the granting of bail.
