Bhasera seals move to UK premiership club
By Staff reporter and agencies Thu, Aug 13, 2009
In Brief: Britain’s Portsmouth Football Club has signed Zimbabwe Warriors backfielder Onismor Bhasera in a three year deal that almost didn’t happen when the team had trouble securing a work permit for him due to Zimbabwe’s low rankings by FIFA. The decision by the International Federation Of Football Associations was appealed with success this week by Portsmouth Chairman Peter Storrie, clearing the way for Bhasera to follow in the footsteps of Warriors Captain Benjani Mwaruwaru, who played with Portsmouth before being traded to Manchester City. Portsmouth has been facing some serious financial problems as the owner has withdrawn any further financial support to the club and is looking for new buyers for the club.
