Supreme Leader meets Zimbabwe, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Senegal presidents
TEHRAN (ISNA)-Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei met with Zimbabwean, Algerian, Sri Lankan and Senegalese presidents on the sidelines of G15 summit in Tehran.
TEHRAN (ISNA)-Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei met with Zimbabwean, Algerian, Sri Lankan and Senegalese presidents on the sidelines of G15 summit in Tehran.
In a meeting with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his accompanying delegation, Supreme Leader described relations between the Islamic Republic and Zimbabwe as strong, friendly, and deep-rooted, further adding, "the two countries enjoy great capacities for expanding bilateral relations and the Islamic Republic is always ready to support Zimbabwe."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the G15 should play an active role and added that independent countries and nations should increase their cooperation.
He further stated that the policy of interference adopted by the superpowers is a great problem for humanity and added that increasing cooperation among independent countries is the only way to counter this policy.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised the resistance of President Mugabe against the interference of Britain and said that the US and other superpowers will not be able to achieve their goals if independent countries cooperate with one another and act in a unanimous manner.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the pressure mounted on the Islamic Republic and the obstacles posed by the superpowers for the Islamic Republic during the past thirty years and reiterated, "the superpowers will continue failing to achieve their goals in the Islamic Republic."
In this meeting which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mr. Mugabe expressed his delight at meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei and said that relations between the Islamic Republic and Zimbabwe are deep-rooted.
He said that the G15 was basically established to act as an active arm of the Non-Aligned Movement.
He added that the G15 should be able to play an active role in South-South Cooperation.
President Mugabe further referred to the interference of some western countries which is aimed at preventing the progress of and cooperation among independent countries and stated that his country is determined to expand its ties with the Islamic Republic.
He further added that his country believes that independent countries should maintain and strengthen their cooperation and unity.
Also Ayatollah Khamenei met with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his accompanying delegation.
In this meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Algerian nation as a brave and forward-looking nation and referred to the Algerian people's battle against the domineering powers, further adding: "the relations between the Islamic Republic and Algeria have never been as strong before and the two countries are currently in a unique position in terms of their bilateral relations."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that the two countries should increase their economic cooperation and said that the current situation of the Islamic Republic is different compared to thirty years ago.
He said: the progress and great achievements made by the Islamic Republic are the result of the pressure and sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic by the West.
Ayatollah Khamenei further touched on the scientific achievements made inside the country and said that all Islamic countries can reach such a position provided that they rely on their resources and increase their cooperation.
Iran’s Supreme Leader stated: the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to share its experience in different fields with Islamic countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the current tragic situation in Palestine and the silence and indifference of the international community, and adding: if Islamic countries had fulfilled their duty in regard to Palestine, today we would not be witness to the dangerous plots of the Zionist regime in Palestine such as the policy of promoting Judaism in that country.
He further stated that the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) should take serious measures against the Zionist regime.
In this meeting which was also attended by Ahmadinejad, Mr. Bouteflika expressed his gratitude for the stances adopted by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution with regard to the issues of the Muslim world.
He said that the Muslim world has pinned its hopes on the Islamic Republic in different issues because the Islamic Republic enjoys great capacities and power.
The Algerian President referred to the achievements made by the Islamic Republic despite the sanctions imposed by the west and said: the reality in Iran is totally different from the image presented by the west and the progress made by the Iranian nation is a source of honor and delight for the Islamic Ummah.
The Algerian President also said that his country is determined to expand its economic ties with the Islamic Republic.
Also Ayatollah Khamenei met with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his accompanying delegation.
At the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the deep-rooted friendly relations between the two countries and said that relations between the Islamic Republic and Sri Lanka have never been as strong before because there are good grounds for cooperation between the two countries.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the achievements of the Sri Lankan government in overcoming the country's internal problems and praised the Sri Lankan government's policy of providing support for the Palestinian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei further added: the Palestinian nation is an innocent nation which is being oppressed from all sides and their cruel enemy, the Zionist regime, which is backed by the US is doing everything in its power to violate the rights of the Palestinian people.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the officials of all countries should play an active role in supporting the Palestinian people.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution further expressed hope that the Sri Lankan President's trip to Tehran will help the two countries expand their relations in all fields.
In this meeting, the Sri Lankan President said: Sri Lanka started its friendly relations with the Palestinian nation many years ago and has always proudly expressed its support for the innocent Palestinian people in international meetings.
Mr. Rajapaksa further referred to the efforts made by his government to fight terrorism and support Muslims and added that Sri Lanka's government has successfully managed to return Muslims displaced during terrorist attacks to their homes.
Sri Lanka's President further stated that the relations between Iran and Sri Lanka are deep-rooted and expressed his gratitude for the support provided for his country by the Islamic Republic.
He also said that Sri Lanka is willing to expand its economic relations with the Islamic Republic in all fields.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution also met Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade and his accompanying delegation.
In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Muslim countries should recognize the importance of the issues of the Muslim world besides increasing their cooperation.
He further stated that no one can ignore the great human capacities and geographical advantages of the Muslim world.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the position of the Senegalese President as the head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and stated: in order to help strengthen relations among the members of the OIC and further their collective interests, the OIC should be strengthened politically and its Islamic spirit has to be boosted.
He said that the OIC was basically established to support the Palestinian people and the issue of Quds.
"Now that the Zionists are implementing their policy of promoting Judaism in Quds, Hebron, and other parts of Palestine, the OIC should focus its attention on the important issue of Palestine"
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the destructive policies of the arrogant powers with regard to the issue of Palestine and said that all Islamic countries should consider the issue of Palestine as a national issue.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that it is necessary for Islamic countries to increase their unanimity and reiterated that the Zionist regime, which is backed by the US, should be put under political and economic pressure by Islamic countries.
He further referred to the bilateral relations between Iran and Senegal and said that the two countries can make use of their capacities in order to further expand their relations.
In this meeting, Senegal's President presented a report of the efforts made during his term as the OIC President to boost economic cooperation among Islamic countries.
He further referred to the strong relations between Tehran and Dakar and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys great capacities in such fields as education, oil, and infrastructures.
Mr. Wade also expressed hope that he will reach agreements with the Islamic Republic over the expansion of relations between the two countries.
