MP Madzore detained on spurious charges
By The Zimbabwean Wed, May 05, 2010
MDC Harare province Organising Secretary and Glen View South MP, Hon. Paul Madzore , was today detained for more than two hours at Harare Central police station on allegations that he assaulted two police officers in May of 2007.
Hon. Madzore was arrested for allegedly not attending court on May 27 2007 yet on the said date he was in remand at Harare Remand Prison on allegations of burning police stations.
He was later acquitted on these charges. “We had to go to the Harare Magistrates’ court’s administration to verify that the case had been thrown away as I was in prison as from the 28 April 2007 to June 2007,” Hon Madzore said.
The MDC views this as a sustained and choreographed attack on the MDC leadership and membership and further condemns this barbaric act of harassment and intimidation of its rank and file.
