MDC dismisses five youths
HARARE - Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has dismissed five youths from the party over the recent violence happened at the party's headquarters, Harvest House, last month.
HARARE - Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has dismissed five youths from the party over the recent violence happened at the party's headquarters, Harvest House, last month.
"The following youths who were at the epicentre of the violence are forthwith expelled from the party: Rhino Mashaya, Shakespear Mukoyi,Stephen Jahwi, Todini Todini and Francis Machimbizofa," Tsvangirai told journalists at a press conference.
"That the above youths shall not participate in any activities of the party and that no member of the party shall, within the context of party activities, associate or entertain the above."
Tsvangirai said his party will implement a 'non-violent conflict management and team building programme that will be implemented throughout the party structures across the country.
Violence broke out at Harvest House last On April 12 and 14 after youth accused some senior officials over a dispute over salary structures within the party.
Tsvangirai's party also raised concern over the the lack of transparency and due process' of handling diamonds at Chiadzwa. He said the MDC 'believes in a broadbased empowerment of the people' opposed to the current indegenisation drive which will see very few benefitting.
